About Dysport®

Every day we make facial expressions such as frowning and raising our eyebrows. These movements cause the facial muscles to contract, and repeated contracts can lead to dynamic lines. If you are bothered by these lines and are looking to achieve a more youthful appearance, Dysport® may be a great solution.

Dysport® is an injectable treatment formulated to smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. Like Botox®, Dysport® is a neurotoxin, which means that it works by temporarily relaxing muscle contractions that lead to dynamic lines. The main difference between these formulas is that Dysport® is more diluted, so it spreads more quickly than Botox®. This can be beneficial for treating large areas such as the forehead.

Dysport can be used to improve the following:

  • Frown lines
  • Vertical forehead lines
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

I have had the best experience with Dr. Willis and Leah. I have had filler, Dysport, and I've been under the knife with Dr. Willis and I've been so happy with all of my results. I actually feel like a part of their family, I can call whenever I need anything and they both make me feel like they care about me and my results.

Nothing but praise for Charlottesville Plastic Surgery. Dr. Willis explained everything he needed to do clearly and his work was top-notch. When needed, he made an immediate referral for me and explained exactly what I would expect from that. Great communication, efficient office.

Dr. Willis did a wonderful job with my surgery. He explained everything very well beforehand so I knew what to expect throughout the process. I would highly recommend Dr. Willis for any plastic surgery procedures. His patient care coordinator Leah is excellent and always available to assist with any questions and concerns.

The Dysport® Treatment

The Dysport® treatment is performed in-office on an outpatient basis at our plastic surgeon-owned and operated medspa. To begin treatment, a numbing cream will be offered for the treatment area to make sure you are comfortable. Then, a very fine needle will be used to inject the Dysport® into the appropriate areas for desired results. Treatment is quick, taking about 15-20 minutes to complete.

Recovery

After your Dysport® treatment, there is no downtime required, though you may experience temporary redness, swelling, and injection site pain, which will resolve with time. In order to ensure the best possible results, we advise that you avoid vigorous exercise, alcohol consumption, and exposure to heat and tanning for 12-14 hours after treatment.

Noticeable changes may be seen after 2-3 days, but it can take up to one week for full results, which can last 3-6 months.
