Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves creating small micro-wounds in the skin using tiny, sterilized needles. These small wounds trigger the production of collagen and elastin, which can make your skin look and feel younger, tighter, and smoother. This treatment is most often performed on the face, but it can also be done on other areas of the body such as the stomach or thighs.
Who is a Candidate?
Microneedling is safe to use on all skin tones. Patients with darker skin tones may find microneedling to be a more effective treatment than lasers since it doesn’t involve heat which can affect the skin’s pigmentation. You should not undergo this treatment if you have active acne or an infection in the treatment area or have wound healing issues. Please contact our office today to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.
The Microneedling Treatment
To begin treatment, a topical numbing cream will be smoothed onto the treatment area to ensure your comfort. Next, a special microneedling pen will be moved across the face, creating micro-wounds in the skin. To finish, a special cream or serum may be applied to the skin. Treatment generally takes 20-60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the target area.
I have had the best experience with Dr. Willis and Leah. I have had filler, Dysport, and I've been under the knife with Dr. Willis and I've been so happy with all of my results. I actually feel like a part of their family, I can call whenever I need anything and they both make me feel like they care about me and my results.
Dr. Willis and his staff were amazing! Very calm, clean and professional atmosphere. They were inviting and attentive. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I went in for a consultation and had my lip filler procedure in the same day. Quick and painless. The results are perfect. I highly recommend Dr.Willis and taking advantage of the referral program. 10/10!
I am over the moon with my results from Dr. Willis after a breast lift and an abdominoplasty. Dr. Willis and his team are so easy to work with. He listened to what I wanted and gave me beautiful results- better than I could have even hoped for. If you’re thinking about getting a procedure done with Dr. Willis my advice would be DO IT!
Dr.Willis and staff are incredible! They treat their patients with such high respect and make you feel right at home during your procedure. They are experienced and dedicated to making things right. You leave the office feeling really good about yourself and the work they’ve performed! I’ve had Fillers and Botox but would recommend anything!
Following microneedling, your skin may feel like it is tight, dry, and sensitive to touch. Redness and slight bruising may last for 5 to 7 days and temporary swelling for 2 to 4 days. For the best results, you should avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least two weeks and avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen one week after the procedure. If you experience any soreness, Tylenol can be taken. Most people need a series of 4 to 6 treatment sessions for optimal results.
