About Aveli® Cellulite Treatment
Cellulite is one of the most common cosmetic concerns among women, and it often persists despite a healthy diet and fitness routine. Caused by fibrous bands beneath the skin that tether tissue and create a dimpled appearance, cellulite affects nearly 90% of women at some point in their lives. Unlike creams or other cellulite treatments that only target the surface, Avéli® is an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive cellulite treatment designed to address the root cause.
At Charlottesville Plastic Surgery, Dr. Willis offers the Avéli cellulite treatment to patients seeking a long-term solution for stubborn cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. Using the Avéli device, this innovative procedure releases the fibrous septa bands responsible for cellulite dimples, helping patients achieve smoother skin and more confident contours after a single treatment.
Aveli®’s Target Treatment Areas
Cellulite most often develops in areas where fat pockets press up against the skin and the fibrous bands pull downward, creating dimpling. Avéli is designed to specifically treat cellulite on the buttocks and thighs, where cellulite is most prevalent.
While other treatments may only temporarily reduce cellulite or focus on skin tightening, Avéli targets the septa bands directly, delivering long-term cellulite reduction with natural-looking results.
Who is a Candidate?
Avéli may be a great option if you struggle with moderate cellulite that has not responded to other treatments. Most patients with stubborn cellulite who want a minimally invasive procedure and do not have significant skin laxity are ideal candidates.
During your consultation, Dr. Willis will evaluate your skin, discuss your concerns, and determine whether Avéli cellulite treatment is the right approach or if other cellulite treatments may better suit your goals.
The Aveli® Treatment
Avéli is performed in-office under local anesthesia only. The treatment typically takes about an hour. Using the handheld Avéli device, Dr. Willis makes small entry points and carefully inserts the retractable blade to release the fibrous bands causing cellulite, also known as septa.
By directly cutting these bands, the Aveli procedure smooths the skin and eliminates the dimpled appearance. Most patients require just a single treatment to see significant improvement. Unlike creams or temporary therapies, Avéli is a minimally invasive treatment that addresses cellulite at its root cause for long-term results.
Recovery
One of the benefits of Avéli is the minimal recovery period. Most patients experience only mild discomfort, residual swelling, or bruising for a few days after treatment. Wearing a compression garment may be recommended to help reduce swelling and support the treated area.
You should be able to return to normal activities within a few days; however, some residual swelling may persist for a few weeks as your body continues to heal. Final results and continued improvement typically appear within the first few months following your initial follow-up appointment.
