About PRP for Hair Loss
Are you suffering from male or female pattern baldness or hair loss? PRP therapy is quickly gaining popularity for hair loss treatment because it is an effective, minimally invasive treatment. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is your body’s natural healing properties found in the blood. The healing and growth factors in PRP can stimulate hair follicles and hair regrowth for a thicker, fuller head of hair and is a scientifically proven benefit for hair regrowth.
Who is a Candidate?
Men and women with early hair thinning can benefit the most from platelet-rich plasma treatment, especially those with androgenic alopecia. Severe balding may require more invasive methods such as a hair transplant to achieve optimal results. PRP is safe for most patients because the PRP injections are obtained from your own blood. There are no foreign ingredients or chemicals used in the injections.
PRP Treatment
PRP treatments use a three-step process. First, a vial of blood will be drawn from your arm to harvest the platelets used during treatment. The blood is rapidly spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the PRP necessary for your injections. Once the blood has been separated, a concentration of platelet-rich plasma is injected into your scalp in the areas of hair loss or balding. A topical anesthetic or regional nerve blocks can be applied before these injections to minimize your discomfort during treatment.
Each step of the procedure is performed by double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Rhett Willis. You can feel confident that your treatment will safe and results will give you an exceptional anti-aging rejuvenation.
Recovery
Recovery from PRP injections is minimal and most patients can resume all normal activities immediately after treatment. However, you should avoid hair dyes and other products with harsh chemicals so that you do not damage the healing injection sites on your scalp or the newly forming hair follicles. Results can typically be seen 6-12 months after treatment and the new hair growth will continue to grow naturally with the rest of your hair.
